An agricultural recycling service returns organic waste to agricultural use instead of landfilling it. OnFarmCompost does this with commercial food waste in the Houston area: scraps are collected weekly from businesses in gasket-sealed drums, then sheet-composted on partner farms in Harris County and Fort Bend County, TX, where the compost builds the farm's own soil. Businesses get weighed diversion reports; farms get soil built where it stands.

OnFarmCompost recycles commercial food waste into farm soil. Food scraps are collected weekly from restaurants, grocers, offices, and food producers across Harris County and Fort Bend County, TX, then composted directly on partner farms. The finished compost feeds the farmland it's made on. It is agricultural recycling in the most literal sense: urban food waste returned to agricultural soil.
Do you haul crop residue, manure, or field waste?
No. OnFarmCompost collects food waste from businesses. It does not haul crop residue, manure, or other on-farm waste streams. If your farm generates those materials, on-site composting is usually the better answer, and we partner with farms to do exactly that: compost on your land so the soil value stays with you.
How can my farm work with OnFarmCompost?
Farms partner with OnFarmCompost by hosting composting on their land. The food waste we collect is sheet-composted on partner farms (layered with wood chips and straw) and after several months becomes crumbly, earthy soil that stays on the farm. See our For Farmers page or call to talk soil.
What food waste do you accept for agricultural composting?
All food scraps: fruit, vegetables, meat, bones, dairy; Post-service plate scrapings; Coffee grounds; Small amounts of grease (not fryer oil). Meat, bones, and dairy are all fine. The on-farm process handles them. Not accepted: paper (towels, napkins, filters); plastics, including "compostable" bioplastics; fryer grease (already diverted).
